Prevention Against HPV-Related Diseases
We provide private, professional HPV vaccination in Singapore to help you prevent cervical cancer, genital warts, and other HPV-related diseases.
At AscendCare, we emphasize patient privacy and clinical safety.
Understanding HPV and the Importance of Vaccination
While most infections clear naturally, persistent HPV infection can lead to genital warts and several types of cancer, including[2]:
- Cervical cancer in women
- Anal and penile cancer in men
- Vaginal, vulvar, and throat cancers in both genders
Contrary to popular belief, HPV does not only affect women. Men can also develop HPV-related cancers and genital warts, and may unknowingly transmit the virus to their partners.
Getting vaccinated is a simple, preventive step that protects you and your loved ones.
Why the HPV Vaccine Matters
It provides up to 90–95% protection against HPV-related diseases and has been proven safe and effective through years of global use, recommended by both the CDC and the World Health Organization (WHO)[4].
Who Should Get Vaccinated
The vaccine is suitable for both males and females, typically:
- Ages 9 to 26 (ideal before becoming sexually active)
- Adults up to age 45 may also benefit after doctor assessment
Dosing Schedule
- Under 15 years old: 2 doses, 6–12 months apart
- 15 years and older: 3 doses over 6 months[5]
Our doctor will advise a schedule that best suits your age and health condition.

Frequently Asked Questions About HPV Vaccine In Singapore
What Does The HPV Vaccine Protect Against?
The HPV vaccine helps protect against infection from Human Papillomavirus (HPV) strains responsible for about 90% of cervical cancers and 90% of genital warts.
HPV is extremely common, with up to 8 in 10 sexually active adults contracting it at some point. Most infections clear naturally, but some can persist and cause cancers affecting the cervix, anus, penis, vulva, vagina, and throat.
Who Is Suitable For The HPV Vaccine?
The vaccine is recommended for both males and females aged 9 to 26, though adults up to age 45 may also benefit.
Our doctor will assess your suitability based on your age, health history, and prior HPV exposure during a private consultation.
How Many Doses Are Required?
The vaccination schedule depends on your age:
- Under 15 years old: 2 doses, 6–12 months apart
- 15 years and older: 3 doses over 6 months
Our doctor will recommend the most suitable schedule for you.
Are There Any Side Effects?
The HPV vaccine is generally safe and well-tolerated.
The most common side effects are mild, such as slight soreness, redness, or swelling at the injection site. These typically resolve within a few days.
Can I Get The Vaccine If I’m Already Sexually Active?
Yes. The vaccine can still protect against HPV strains you haven’t been exposed to.
It is never too late to reduce your risk of HPV-related diseases and protect your long-term health.
Does The HPV Vaccine Only Protect Women?
No. Men can also benefit from the HPV vaccine to prevent genital warts, anal cancer, and penile cancer, and to reduce the risk of transmitting HPV to partners.
Vaccinating both men and women strengthens community protection.
Where Can I Get The HPV Vaccine?
You can receive the HPV vaccine at AscendCare Medical Clinic. Please book an appointment here or contact us at +65 8959 0102 to schedule a private consultation with our healthcare team.
Does Insurance Or Medisave Cover HPV Vaccines?
- Under the National Childhood Immunisation Schedule (NCIS), Singaporean girls in Primary 5 and 6 receive Cervarix (HPV2) free at school[7].
- Under the National Adult Immunisation Schedule (NAIS), Singaporean females aged 9 to 26 are eligible for Cervarix (HPV2) with government subsidies[8].
- Gardasil 9, which offers broader protection, is not covered under government subsidies but is available privately at AscendCare.
Does The HPV Vaccine Treat Existing HPV Infections?
No. The HPV vaccine is preventive, not therapeutic. It protects against HPV types you have not yet been exposed to, but it does not treat existing infections or warts. Early vaccination before exposure provides the strongest protection.
How Long Does HPV Vaccine Protection Last?
Research shows that HPV vaccine protection remains strong and long-lasting. Studies have demonstrated high efficacy against HPV16/18-related cervical precancers for at least 10 to 15 years after vaccination[9].
Current evidence suggests the vaccine may provide lifelong protection, and booster doses are not currently required. Read the full study here.
How Do I Schedule An HPV Vaccination Appointment?
You can schedule an appointment by calling our clinic or using our online booking system here.
Walk-in appointments may also be available depending on vaccine supply.
If I Already Completed Cervarix (HPV2), Should I Get Gardasil 9 Too?
Yes. Gardasil 9 provides protection against seven additional HPV strains not covered by Cervarix, including five cancer-causing types and two that cause genital warts. While Cervarix offers good protection, Gardasil 9 provides more comprehensive coverage.
Our doctor can advise whether a supplemental vaccination is right for you.
