Biography:

Dr Michael studied at the National University of Singapore (NUS) under the University Scholars Program and graduated with a Bachelor of Science (Life Sciences) in 2015. He was awarded the Tan Siak Kew Gold Medal by the Board of Undergraduate Studies. He was also placed on Honors Roll in the NUS University Scholars Programme and awarded NUS Awards for Study Abroad to study at the University of Toronto, Canada through the NUS exchange program.

Dr Michael subsequently entered Duke-NUS Medical School with support from the Goh Foundation Scholarship in 2015. He was awarded Best Oral Presentation Award at the Second International Conference on Health and Medical Informatics, shortlisted for Best Poster Presentation Award (Health Services & Systems Research) at the Fifth SingHealth Duke-NUS Scientific Congress, and awarded Honors Grade for his Research Thesis. He was amongst the selected few in his batch to undergo attachment at the prestigious Duke University Medical Centre in the United States in 2018. He was Chair, Duke-NUS Community Outreach Committee and was nominated for the Kenneth Kam Outstanding Community Service Leadership Award.

After graduation from medical school in 2019, Dr Michael was selected into the highly competitive SingHealth Residency program which he completed in 2023. Throughout his residency at SingHealth, he gained clinical experiences and competencies in Family Medicine, Emergency Medicine (including Children’s Emergency), Internal Medicine, Geriatric Medicine, Psychiatry, Paediatric Medicine, General Surgery, Urology, Orthopaedic Surgery, Obstetrics and Gynaecology. He was also awarded for Academic Excellence in Family Medicine in 2022.

Dr Michael served in various professional roles including reviewer of The Journal of Clinical Endocrinology & Metabolism, member of the Program Evaluation Committee of the SingHealth Family Medicine Residency Program, and member of the SingHealth Polyclinics Mortality and Morbidity Quality Assurance Committee. He is currently a member of the Singapore Medical Association and the American Academy of Family Physicians.
